A little sprucin’ up!
My house is a work-in-progress as far as decorating goes. I still have many walls to paint, art and photos to hang and little finishing touches to be found. We just got our tax refund, so I got to buy myself a present!
My main floor is all hardwood. Zero squishy carpet - much to my husband’s chagrin. Actually so much so that he once told me that he would only be satisfied once I am on my knees screaming “Why?!” to the heavens about our hard floors. He thought it might actually require one of our future children falling and cracking their head on our hard floors for me to really feel penitent about my choice for our family room - he’s probably right. Too avoid future tears and motherly agony (and to just make the house look way better and more homey) I purchased area rugs from Pottery Barn. The one in the family room is uber squishy. Just walking across the lush wool pile makes my toes wiggle with happiness.
As always, once I get going on a decorating spree, I tend to find about a thousand other things I want to change, so I also changed up the home studio (book a consultation with us to chat about your wedding and you can come visit! I’ll even give you tea and biscotti). We had red accents, which I just changed to green. I dug through my laundry room cupboards and managed to swap out some red orchids with green drippy looking creeper flowers (yes, I am aware that this is not botanically correct), put out some little mini silver barrels on the coffee table, dig up some old pillows from my basement and recover the red pillows with some green leaf patterned kitchen towels (take that, Martha Stewart!). Total cost of my color change: $6! Heck yeah!
